Samsung LN40b550 – My Take on this 40″ LCD HDTV
The Samsung Ln40b550 Experience
My best friend has always wanted to purchase an LCD HDTV and after going over a lot of HDTV choices, she has finally settled on the Samsung ln40b550. My best friend, Tina, was undecided between this year’s release of the 40-inch model of the Samsung LNB550 series and the 40-inch model of last year’s Samsung series. But after finding out that the price difference of the two models is only $50, I immediately advised her to go and purchase the Samsung ln40b550.
Tina loved the Samsung ln40b550. It gave her a whole new level of viewing experience – one that she has never experienced anywhere else. Within the first few weeks of watching shows and movies on her new television, both of us couldn’t get our eyes away from the 40″ screen.
The 40b550 provided beautiful imagery with details that you have never noticed anywhere else before. The colors in this TV are rich and are in intensified contrast. I myself was amazed at the new kind of experience that this model provides to viewers.
Being a hardcore and self-confessed videophile, Tina couldn’t help but praise the high technology that the In40b550 40 LCD TV was obviously created with. With the Touch of Color design that the TV has, you will not have anything but praises for this device. You can also be anywhere in the room and be at any angle away from the TV and you will hardly notice a difference.
A little color also changes when the TV is viewed off-angle but this is something understandable with most HDTVs. The great thing though is that ln-40b550 always manages to display an acceptable picture at any viewable angle and that is surely good enough.
Being a girl, my friend Tina also preferred a light set. She was not expecting a weight so light for a 40″ Samsung TV with its many features and she was surely in for quite a surprise. The television was very light compared to most HDTVs. We didn’t have a hard time transporting it from one place to another. Tina even easily carried the precious TV up and down the stairs with it only tucked under her arms. That’s how light it is!
The Samsung LN-40b550 is not without its flaws though. It may seem almost perfect but one of its weaknesses is its inability to perfectly display standard definition videos. Using regular cable to watch standard definition shows and movies can make the image display inaccurately but this is a challenge that everyone knows is suffered by most LCDs. I guess what really matters at this point is that SD is still displayed at an acceptable image though not as good as on other screens.
Other minor flaws include the auto program function. The problem with the auto program is that it takes too much time to perform. The front buttons of the TV are also rendered useless because it’s rather hard to see and you end up not using them at all. But even with these flaws, the Samsung ln40b550 is still one of the best deals that you can find in the market today.
